          Welcome to the Sheneman Family website. I've set this page up to auto-refresh itself...but to make SURE that you are seeing the most recent page, I would recommend that you hit the refresh button on your browser before going any further - just in case. There's been lots of changes I've made to this site - be sure you're seeing the latest edition!

          I will NOT post any personal info about ANYONE in the family without their permission - so relax! Unless deceased. Once there, you're fair game!

          What I would like this to be is a central location for us all. A one-stop place to go to check schedules, see pics, get addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, that sort of thing. "When did cuz say they would be out of town?" Stop wondering - log in, check the family calendar out, and you'll know! Of course, that will require YOUR co-operation and input from YOU.

          I am password-protecting the "personal information" sections of this site. You will need to get a user name and password to access those areas. That way, the family can use this site, but no one else will be able to see our address and phone numbers. In order to get a user name and password, email me. Be sure to include WHAT username and password you want. Pick anything that you like,...but please...do NOT use a password that you use for anything else!

     What's available here:

          You can choose any or all of the options above. You don't have to have an info page up with all your contact info, pictures, etc., for example. That's only if you want it. Personally, I think the calendar is pretty cool. I've created a "family calendar" that everyone with an account here can add events to. You can set events that YOU add to "public", meaning all of us can see, or you can set it to "confidential" meaning only you can see. In addition to that, you can set up your own calendar too, if you want. WARNING - even on your own calendar, you must set the events to "confidential" if you don't want others to see,...because any other registered user here can see anyone else's calendar. You can also search for specific events, such as birthdays, anniversarys, or even by name, to see what any particular person is doing on any given day. No need to scroll through month after month looking for someone's birthday.

          I've also set up basic info pages. Again, this is a password protected site, so you won't be able to see them until I set up an account for you. I'd like to have pages here for everyone in the family. Make it easy to find folk's addresses and phone numbers. The info pages will have a picture of you, if you allow, and your name, address, phone numbers, email addresses, websites (if you have any) - names of your parents, kids, siblings - um....it can have any info you want on it. Just let me know. Listed below is a link that says SAMPLE. Click on it to see what I'm talking about. (You don't need an account / password here to see the sample.) Some of the links won't work on it for you, because A) It's a sample, and B) The links lead to password-protected areas. But it will give you and idea of what I'm talking about.

          And finally....I can now offer POP3 email accounts for you. YOUR_NAME@shenemanfamily.com. If you would like one of these, let me know what user name and password you want for the email account. This email account is completely separate from the rest of the website - so you can have access to this site, or you can have an email account, or you can have both. If you DO choose both, your user name and password can be the same for both, if you want.

Some possible future additions:

  1. Blog site for you to post your own stuff.
  2. Bulletin Board, for all of us to post messages.
  3. Guestbook for everyone to sign. Not sure what the point is on this one tho.
  4. Help Site - a place to go to find out how to use the calendar, email, etc. Then again, you could just email me.
  5. Opinion Polls / Survey section. Can be fun sometimes...
  6. Newsletters / mail lists - another easy way to stay in touch. Am thinking y'all could email me with info you want published...I could send out a monthly letter...maybe....hmmm....

          Well anyway, just some thoughts I'm having, about things I could do here. Of course, not much point to it without participation from others. And if you have any thoughts about stuff you'ld like to see here, let me know!
